Forefront Friday – Sports Betting
FOREFRONT FRIDAY: With the Super Bowl, right around the corner next week, we thought it would be extremely relevant to discuss the sports betting landscape from a business perspective.
Mark Twain once said “The more things are forbidden, the more popular they become.” This can’t be truer for this topic. The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 banned sports betting across the U.S. excluding a few states such as Nevada. Powever in 2018 PASPA was overturned by the u.s supreme court paving the way for states to adopt legislature of legalized forward spending of some form. The opportunities and room for growth seem endless. The sports betting industry is a multi-billion dollar industry and states deserve to benefit from it. Unlucky bettors pockets may be left feeling empty but it’s a win for a pandemic-proof industry in terms of tax revenue employment and entertainment.
