In 2015, O’Keefe prepared a pro-bono report on the Guardian Building for Wayne County. In that report we suggested the county move its offices to New Center, creating a government office campus with the State of Michigan at its Cadillac Place building in the former General Motors Co. headquarters.
After our report was issued, the Evans administration tried marketing the Guardian Building for sale, but didn’t get any takers when $60 million was still owed on the bond debt tied to its headquarters. Today Evan is open to selling the building if the right deal comes along.
